Chevron world gas conference ar app

We made an AR app for Chevron’s World Gas Conference booth that showcased the Gorgon Project (A Chevron project to harvest Liquefied Natural Gas) and how it operates on the Barrow Island nature reserve without disturbing the existing ecosystems.

My Role

I was the lead programmer, working with one other programmer to develop the application. This application was largely very similar to the Gatorade AR Application we had completed earlier - featuring AR content positioned relative to a marker, as well as state based UI. This time we also had some interactive elements in the form of world-space UI objects that would expand to show some text when tapped.

Challenges

This project went very smoothly since we already had the experience of developing the Gatorade AR app. The timeline was longer (~8 weeks) so we had more time to iterate on UI designs. We experimented with utilizing ARKit early in the project, but it became apparent that we needed the marker detection features of Vuforia (which were not supported by ARKit at the time).
